St. Fleur playing in first ever World Winners Cup

Bahamas Beach Soccer National Team member Lesley St. Fleur was selected to participate in the first edition of the World Winners Cup in Alanya, Turkey from October 21 - 27. The tournament brings together 19 of the top men’s beach soccer clubs from around the world.

An official invitation was extended to the BFA by Copenhagen Beach Soccer Club, inviting one player from the Bahamas National Beach Soccer Team to play for the Danish club team at the tournament.

St. Fleur was selected on the heels of making Beach Soccer Worldwide's top 50 beach soccer players list for 2019. He was also recently named Top Goal Scorer at Goalfun 2019 CFA China - Latin America Beach Soccer Championship in Hebei China - a first in Bahamian Beach Soccer History.

“Some of the best players in the world are participating in this very prestigious tournament, so for one of our players to be invited to participate speaks volumes about our beach soccer program and the quality of our players,” said Gavin Christie Vice President of Beach Soccer & Futsal.

Insurance Management sponsored the trip.

“We want to thank Insurance management who saw the value in the Bahamas being represented at the highest beach soccer level and stepped up to assist us with the sponsorship of Lesley St. Fleur, Christie said.

St. Fleur played his first match of the tournament on Monday when Copenhagen beat top Italian club Atletico Licata 8 - 5. He scored a hat trick with four minutes left in the tied game, securing the team’s win.

St Fleur is back on the sand on Thursday, October 24 when Copenhagen faces Iraqi team Masafi Al Wasat in the quarter finals.
